T-Mobile Springboard

My opinion about products released by the service providers isn’t a good one. My experience with them led me to believe that they are made with really cheap import parts and similar things. Hopefully, this one will be an exception from the general rule I have had the distinguished displeasure of stumbling upon, although I highly doubt it.

  • Processor : 1.2 GHz dual core processor, Qualcomm MSM8260 chipset
  • RAM : N/A
  • Android OS : 3.2 Honeycomb
  • Camera : 5 MP
  • Display : 800 x 1280 pixels, 7.0 inches (~216 ppi pixel density)

The screen of this tablet is a TFT capacitive touchscreen that has around 16 million colors. The screen itself is 7 inches big and reaches a resolutionf of 800 x 1280 pixels. The pixel density is approximately 216 ppi.

On the memory side, this tab has an internal storage space of 16 GB. No info about the RAM and I don’t really think it has any. You see, service provider products are often inferior in one way or another to the genuine ones and usually lack a certain essential component. In this case, it happens to be the RAM. How good can a tablet run without RAM ? I guess the unlucky people that have the misfortune of purchasing this tablet will find out. If you need more space, you can use the MicroSD card slot which can use any MicroSD card of up to 32 GB.

On the camera note, it has a 5 MP camera that can easily photograph at resolutions as high as 2560 х 1920 pixels. The features of the camera include : autofocus and Geo-Tagging. The video recorder is a really awesome one too since it can record at resolutions as high as 720p. This tablet also has a secondary 1.3 MP camera.

On the hardware side it has a 1.2 GHz dual core processor and also a Qualcomm MSM8260 chipset. A pretty decent configuration, but the fact that it has no RAM is a real downfall.

On the software side, it has Android OS v3.2 Honeycomb. That’s quite a disappointment since we don’t even know for sure whether or not it can be upgraded to 4.0. But, then again, many new tabs seem to lack the 4.0 version of the Android OS. So far, only Samsung has managed to impress me by releasing all their new products at the latest upgrade available, be it hardware or software.

This tablet is quite interesting, although there are so many other out there with more options than this one.
