While I was long expecting this, it has finally happened and Huawei has officially taken the official 3rd Smartphone Maker World-Wide position. It’s taken them a while, but overtaking Apple in sales is no mere task to achieve – and just like Rome that wasn’t built in 1 day, neither was this feat achieved without a great deal of work.
So far, Huawei’s best device that pushed them tremendously in achieving this task was the Huawei Ascend P6, a phone which managed to attain a record number of sales ( 4 million units sold, to be precise ) and will soon be replaced by the newer version – the Huawei Ascend P7 ( which will be out officially any day now ).
At the end of April, Strategy Analytics reported that Huawei ( which was then alongside Lenovo ) was gaining a lot at the expense of Samsung and Apple. The report had already placed Huawei in the 3rd place, followed closely by Lenovo ( both of them have shipped somewhere around 13.4 million and 13.3 million smartphones respectively ).
So far, the Huawei Ascend P6 is the strongest high-profile smartphone that Huawei has released ( soon to be toppled in that position by the P7 ) and, aside from selling 4 million units – feat very impressive in and of itself, it has also won the Best Product: Consumer Smartphone 2013-2014 Award from EISA.
Here’s hoping they keep improving and creating more and more powerful smartphones in order for them to keep this newly attained position.
