I don’t know about you, but I can hardly await the release of Despicable Me 2 – the movie. I found the first Despicable Me movie to be something quite amazing. I especially loved the idea of a Mastermind Villain ( like the old James Bond villains ) with an army of evil minions to do his bidding. However, the fact that the movie took the ironic approach to things and made the villain an epic failure of a villain whose own minions were sort of disappointed of ( minions that, let me remind you, were peanut shaped yellow spawns of science and had the intelligence of a toddler ). The movie made me laugh quite hard at certain scenes. It had such a success that they released several “Shorts” with the minions and even created a second one. The trailer alone is funnier than many comedies of 2013. For that exact reason, my heart burst with joy when I found out that they released a game for Android with the minions.

DESCRIPTION:
The game starts out with a pretty well made intro cinematic of the minions competing for certain titles. Apparently the last month’s award of Minion of the Month was given to another minion. You, who so happens that are playing as Dave ( if you don’t know who Dave is, just watch the Despicable 1 movie closely – or just the trailer ), did not receive a Minion of the Month award, but can hardly wait to attain the Minion of the Year Golden Cup ( and you aren’t the only one that wants it ). You are then flung into a runner type game ( like Subway Surfer or something like that ) with a unique twist to the genre. Jump, fly, dodge obstacles, collect bananas, be mischievous, and defeat villains to earn the title of Minion of the Year is basically your main objective in this game, but I’ll be damned if it isn’t amusing.
While this game is very similar to all of the generic runner games, it is quite different. It has some really interesting boss fights and some hilarious power-ups ( such as Mega-Minion where he gets so big that he stomps cars and other minions alike ). The graphics are great and state-of-the-art and the game is filled with custom animations and voice-overs. There are multiple dynamic camera angles that can cause trouble for you later on. Certain items engage you in some bonus gameplay similar to the mini-games of old. Such items include the Mega-Minion, the Fluffy Unicorn and the Rocket.
Now for a couple of technical notes. The game itself isn’t all that big, but it is highly recommended that you have at least 50 MB of free and unused space for it and that you don’t run any other background apps at the same time. This is all for the better as the game an lag at times on older phones. On the bright side of things, this game is Free to Play, so it will cost you absolutely nothing to try out and experience all that it has to offer. It has support for micro-transactions, but those are there for you ONLY if you want to help the creators of the app.
