Some would say it was only a matter of time, while others would say that it was something unnecessary, but as is now the tradition, whenever a strong flagship comes out, a Mini version of it is not far behind. So too is the case of the HTC One Mini 2, one that is superior to its predecessor and shares the design of the One M8.
The HTC One Mini 2 is quite a good looking device. It features a 4.5 inch screen that reaches a resolution of 720p ( and has a circa 326 pixels per inch pixel density ).The phone is slightly larger than its predecessor ( about 1 mm thicker, actually ), but due to its curved design, that’s hardly an issue as it fits wonderfully in your hand. The phone also weighs circa 137 grams and sports BoomSound dual-front stereo speakers.
It’s no slouch on the hardware side, either. The HTC One Mini 2 is said to operate a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset with a Quad-Core 1.2 GHz Cortex A7 CPU and an Adreno 305 GPU. It also has 1 GB of RAM and an internal storage space of 16 GB ( so far it has as much as the original One Mini, although this one does have that MicroSD card that can use up to 128 GB cards on it ).
Interestingly enough, this phone actually is the first to stray away from HTC’s UtraPixel technology, and instead comes with a more conventional 13 MP camera with a BSI sensor and an f/2.2 lens. Also, it’s capable of recording 1080p HD video, similarly to its 5 MP camera situated on the front.
The phone will also launch in June in GunMetal Gray, Glacial Silver and Amber Gold and will most likely be priced at around 47o euros in Europe ( or somewhere around that price world-wide – just switch it to your own currency if you want to know exactly ). It’s a bit cheaper ( by about 100 or so euros ) than the normal One M8, so it’s presumably a decent pricing – time will tell when we see exactly how the phone operates.
There’s a lot of good going on in the HTC One mini 2. For many it will be perfectly powerful, the battery performance is reasonable if not exemplary, but the software experience is one of our favourites in the current market.
