This is a piece of news that makes me be more subjective than I should. You see, I oft times frequent certain meme sites and image boards, and there is this old meme involving Slowpoke, a Pokemon with extremely slow reaction times, used often in cases in which people find out things that everybody knew for a while now. I can’t help but think of that when I see that these devices, the Xperia Z and Xperia Z Ultra, are only NOW receiving the update to 4.3 Jelly Bean, NOW, when everybody is switching to 4.4 KitKat.
In retrospect, it is sort of mean to say this about these phones ( and contrary to how I might have made it sound, I like those two devices quite a lot ), however you can’t help but laugh at the dark irony that occurs here. Maybe it’s just my twisted sense of humor at work here, but I can’t help but compare this to a scenario I witnessed myself: people saying “I’ll finally try out Windows 7” when all the other people are getting Windows 8.
Now, back to the matter at hand – this update. Google did say that these two marvelous devices would get KitKat as well, but they’d get that update later. This update brings, along with all the changes included in Google’s 4.3 update, a few enhancements introduced by Sony themselves.
Some of these enhancements include things like the Smart Social Camera, added t the Z Ultra as well and it was previously only added to the Z1. Both phones also received updated versions of stock app ( such as Walkman, Messaging, Track ID and MyXperia ). Sony also introduced Xperia Themes, a feature with support for downloadable UI packs.
This update is currently rolling out, and if you’re an owner for such a phone, you should get this update soon.
