It hasn’t been all that long since the release of Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, and Ubisoft has already decided to release another version of their game for mobile platforms such as phones and tablets with both Android and iOS. Still, before saying ANYTHING about this game, there’s one small detail to talk about: this is an Assassin’s Creed game only in name, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Still, I will tell you both sides of the story for better knowledge of the subject.
If you haven’t played any of the PC games ( or console games, but since I’m a PC Gamer myself I will only say PC, although all the others apply too ), a bit of back-story is required. From the start, these were “Slash-Em-Up” games with Stealth elements mixed in. Assassin’s Creed III introduced a new system of gameplay: Naval Combat. It was a major event in the gaming world as it was the BEST ever Naval Combat system, present in Assassin’s game, and it offered more than many of the Pirate games available till then. With that, opinions were torn between users who liked it and users who hated it.
Since there were more people FOR that thing, they enhanced upon it with Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, a game which was a prequel to AC:3 story-wise, but that was necessary in order to build upon that Naval part ( it was placed in the Golden Age of Piracy ). Again, opinions were torn here as well: the common denominator was appalled at the idea of a Ninja AND Pirate game. But it worked and the majority of people liked it.
Now that you’re up to speed, let me tell you a thing or two about the game at hand.

DESCRIPTION:
This game has only the setting and the naval combat in common with the PC games. The whole Assassin’s part is completely removed, but that’s not really a bad thing. In this game you play as a young and ambitious captain known as Alonzo Batilla, someone eager to take on the fiercest of enemies to become a Pirate Legend. The naval combat is as great as ever in this game, allowing you to fight real-time all over the Caribbean Sea with a wide-array of enemies and a wide-range of weapons.
The most iconic boats from the Golden Age of Piracy are available in this game ( ranging from the smallest of gunboats to the Man O’War floating fortresses ), and they’re all up for grabs for those skilled enough to do it. Once you choose your favorite vessel, go forth and upgrade it using all the massive bounty plundered from your encounters. It’s up to you to also recruit the finest crew members you can ad learn more than 50 new pirating techniques in order to reach the Pirate Legend title and become a true master of naval combat.
Similar to the PC game, the volatile weather conditions will rarely be to your favor. They directly impact the gameplay and redefine every landscape. Nothing is worse than being engaged in combat and getting caught up in a storm, take it from someone who has tried it. Also, you’ll come to hate and love Fog for its concealing abilities, for this works both to your advantage and detriment. Otherwise, when everything is nice and sunny, you can admire some beautiful sunsets and sail through the night along some breathtaking coastlines. However, a word of warning though: if you’re coming directly from the PC version, the graphics are NOTHING compared to them, but they’re better than most games you’ll find on mobile platforms.
The Caribbean map is as huge as ever, riddled with a vast array of islands ripe for exploring. There are more than 50 story and side-missions for you to take on. There are over 100 collectibles such as treasures or lost parchments. You can also compete with some of your friends for the highest bounty.
The adventure in this game is made to reveal the truth about La Buse’s mysterious lost treasure. You will cross paths with both the Assassins and the Templars and even play a role in the age-old struggle. You will also be meeting some of the pirates from the PC game too, which so happen to be some of the most notorious ones from the era: Sam Bellamy, Ben Hornigold and Blackbeard.
The game can be downloaded from the Play Store and it costs around 5 dollars, but this is one of those rarer cases in which the game fully deserves that pricing. Below I’ll provide you with a small trailer for the game:
